"Seconds is a sparkling anthology, bringing together 'famous names' and less familiar poets whose work is fresh in vision, skilfully crafted and a pleasure to encounter for the first time. Not only are the poems strong individually, but the Rhubarb editorial team has arranged them so they connect in various ways , and seem to gather new shades of meaning from one another. Like any anthology worthy of the name, Seconds is very good for 'dipping into' - but it's also unusually rewarding to read as a whole collection."

As the world waited to emerge onto the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns lengthened, the desire for new forms of normality became increasingly urgent. But what might we find on the other side?
Inspired by this urge to be 'on the other side', the Wharfedale Poets ask: How do we relate to the other side of a political divide? How can we know the person on the other side of the window? How are we changed at the other side of a journey? What waits on the other side of death? These questions and many others are posed by the Wharfedale Poets. Meet them - on the other side. Ings Poetry published its first book in 2017. Sunlight, Shadow and Sin was produced on behalf of Wharfedale Poets. The group gave a performance at the 2016 Ilkley Literature Festival Fringe, with the seven members taking the Seven Deadly Sins of Christian theology as a theme for the show. The performance was a great success, so the anthology was structured in the same way, with a dedicated section on the ‘Sins’ before a selection of our other work.

If he really existed, I’d not dream of pouring out the stream of bile I aim
at the small slot of face I can make out, disembodied in his rear view mirror.
